December 1999 saw the beginning of a new era at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, with the re-opening
of a beautiful, multi-faceted building for the arts, with its refurbished auditorium and additional performing spaces. In July 1997 the curtain fell after the closing gala, and within hours the process of demolition and reconstruction began. Rob Moore's often striking, sometimes haunting, photographs document this complex two-year project.
