This recording of Ballo in Maschera is extremely RARE. The 1962 revival of Un ballo in maschera had been intended for broadcast by the BBC, but the failure of contract negotiations prevented this. Fortunately Lord Harewood, closely connected with the Company, was able to make a private recording over the two performances of 23 and 27 February, which has preserved this excellent performance.
